Should I choose xiaomi 14t or honor 200? I am using it just for camera. Which one has the better os and software updates. Which one gives regularly and better? Ip rating is the only thing that is stopping me to choose honor though.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2025Wait for the Pixel 10 or Pixel 11 I guess.Happy to wait what Samsung brings out with the A36 & A56 line up. The Nothing Phone 3a is also around the corner and so is Pixel 9a.
Deal breakers for me in finding my phone are the overall size and weight (I would still say a Pixel 8/9, Xiaomi 14/15 or even a Moto Edge 50 Neo IMO are perfect sizes for me), fast charging (45w?) and yes the cameras; a decent/ mid of the road chipset would suffice for me. it has to support either Dolby Atmos or universal spatial audio with a bit of bass and hi-res audio support are also deal breakers for me.

I just feel I want a bit more...a brighter, more sharper, better HDR screen, better audio prowess (one with Dolby Atmos or equivalent), 12GB RAM the very least.
Any other suggestions?

I'm beginning to think now that the 14T may not be my next phone due to its size and camera issues. I have a Pixel 8 right now and have unused discount codes.
Is it worth upgrading you think?

Gino76ph, 17 Feb 2025But, would quality take a hit when recording in 16:9 ratio ... moreAspect ratio doesn't affect image quality whatsoever. But taking photos/videos in any aspect ratio other than 4:3 will result in cropped images, since camera sensors are designed for 4:3.
Generally speaking, you should use 4:3 for taking photos and 16:9 for recording videos because they are the most widely accepted formats for photo and video respectively.

Here, I'll link you three videos to give you a clue on how bad the issue is. All of these videos are in Indonesian because I'm an Indonesian myself.

Not only is there focus hunting, but lots of stuttering as well. If this was a cheap Redmi or Poco, I would've given it a pass, but the 14T costs $400 here, and it's totally unacceptable.

In videos i've seen i only saw one with this annoying focus hunting issue. I probably should watch more. But is it a prevalent and common issue?
I did have Redmi Notes and Pocos in the past and yes they do have this issue.

If you're willing to spend more, I recommend getting the 14T Pro or Xiaomi 14 instead for videography needs because both of them do not have this issue.

Gino76ph, 16 Feb 2025Would you know why the 14 and 14T can't record in 4:3 ... moreYou actually can record in 4:3 by holding the shutter button while in Photo mode. However, it's limited to just 15 seconds and you can't switch lens or use HDR while recording. You need a third-party camera app like Open Camera if you want to record in 4:3 for longer than 15 seconds and with more flexibility.
It's not a limitation or anything, not a single Android skin out there lets you record in 4:3 flexibly using their stock camera app, not even stock Android and iOS. I guess phone makers assume no one wants to watch 4:3 videos in 2025 anymore.

I thought the 4:3 format is better in a way that it represents a more accurate, more sharper, more "condensed" photo quality than 16:9?
Is this because of a limitation on their respective chipsets? or something else?
