Xiaomi 15T Pro review
Android 15 and HyperOS 2
The Xiaomi 15T Pro boots Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0. The phone should be getting Android16-powered HyperOS 3.0 this month and is eligible for a total of five major Android versions.
HyperOS as seen on the Xiaomi 15T Pro is very much like what we got on the Xiaomi 15 series from earlier this year. The full suite of Xiaomi AI tricks is on board as well.
Locksreens
There are plenty of customizable lockscreen options, together with dynamic wallpapers and dynamic clocks and fonts. You can then choose for a Classic or App Drawer style for your home experience.
HyperOS 2 has separate Notifications and Control center pages with no option for a joint interface for the two. The homescreens support apps and widgets, as well as two flavors of large folders. The leftmost homescreen panel can be Google Discover.
Sure enough, there's Google Gemini. You can ask Gemini a lot of stuff to do and even have entire conversations. You can also have it create images for you. Circle to Search is available system-wide as well.
Gemini • Gemini • Circle to Search
Beyond the generic Gemini stuff, there are plenty of in-house AI features. They're all neatly organized and bundled together in the Xiaomi HyperAI menu in Settings, where you can find detailed explanation of their functionality. You still have to access the features themselves from their respective apps and locations, but it is very convenient to actually have a central location where everything is nicely laid out.
The Notes app can do translation, proofreading, summary and AI layout.
The Recorder app can do automatic transcription with speaker detection and separation, and you can translate the transcriptions. You can enable system-wide AI subtitles for multimedia consumption. There is also an AI interpreter that can do both face-to-face translation and call translation.
There's a whole lot of AI based image editing features in the gallery. There's an object/people remover, you can add bokeh, do content-aware expansion, or change how the sky looks in your shots.
Performance and benchmarks
Xiaomi 15T Pro relies on the MediaTek's previous gen flagship chip - the 3nm Dimensity 9400+. We are not exactly sure what this "+" stands for as the specs are identical to the standard 9400 SoC.
The processor has an all-big-core CPU design - it uses one 'prime' Cortex-X925 core (up to 3.63GHz), three Cortex-X4 units (3.3GHz), and four Cortex-A720 cores (2.4GHz).
The Immortalis-G925 GPU is in charge of graphics. All Xiaomi 15T Pro models come with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM. For storage you can choose between 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, and all memory options are of the UFS 4.1 variety. We have the 12GB + 1TB version.
And now, let's see some benchmark scores.
The Dimensity 9400 has the second-best processor of the previous generation , bested only by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It shows noticeable (12%) improvement over the previous 9300 model inside the Xiaomi 14T Pro.
The graphics performance is super close to the Adreno 830 scores from the SD 8 Elite chip.
Finally, the compound AnTuTu score puts the Xiaomi 15T Pro among the best phones we've tested.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro managed to keep 60% of its CPU and 61% of its graphics performance after prolonged stress testing. Certainly not an overachiever when it comes to cooling, but not a disaster either.
During the stress testing the Xiaomi 15T Pro became unbearably hot around the frame and at the back. We doubt you'll ever need to stress the chipset to 100% for an hour straight, but it is still worth mentioning.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro offers flagship performance and that's undeniable. Its sustained performance is average, though the phone will handle every game you throw at it without breaking a sweat. It may not be the most comfortable one to hold during those long gaming sessions, though.
