Xiaomi ships 1 million Mi Band 3 in 17 days
May 31 was a big day for Xiaomi as it announced three flagship phones, but it also saw the debut of the new Mi Band 3 wristband. The smart wearable comes with a bigger OLED screen, mightier battery and improved design, which seems to have resonated well with customers.
Wang Xiang, Senior VP at Xiaomi, boasted on Twitter the company managed to reach 1 million shipments in just 17 days.
The Mi Band 3 costs CNY169 (around $25) and was initially offered only in Black. Starting today, the Mi Store offers two more color options - Fiery Orange and Deepsea Blue. The bands will set you back CNY19,90 which is equivalent to $3.
The rubbery strap was said to be tested 2,000 times to be buckled and unbuckled and it was still okay to use. Along with the actual Mi Band 3, the whole device has an IP68 rating, meaning you can swim while wearing the device.
The Mi Band 3 is not programmed to show you detailed info about any particular sport, but it has a clock, a pedometer, a heart rate monitor and Bluetooth connection with a smartphone for incoming calls and apps notifications.
