Anonymous, 26 May 2023In fact, having the camera island to the back left side of ... moreWhen I hold my phone to take a picture I usually hold the edges of the left side of my phone and the edges/back of the right side of my phone. There is no objectively better position for ergonomics while taking pictures. Unless a manufacturer decides to put the cameras in the complete center of the back of the phone. Which would allow both hands to hold the sides of the phone and keep it extra steady while being unable to block any cameras.
I actively use two phones, one with a centered set of cameras, and one with cameras in the corner. When using the latter, I sometimes I do find myself putting my fingers on the back of the left side of the phone. And I often end up finding out afterwards that the edge of the camera caught one of my fingers. Despite the cameras being in the corner. I never hold anything but the edges on the left side of my center mounted camera phone and never have that issue as a result.
Maybe it would be better for tablets to have them in the corner, but on phones? They're simply too small for there to be any benefit in that.

Anonymous, 25 May 2023OnePlus 11 has that kind of camera alignment.I suppose so and it is pretty ugly but what they do differently is try to blend it into the corner. This is just a random big circle in the corner where it shouldn't be.

just a smile, 27 May 2023Software and processing also are crucial in improving a cam... moreXiaomi currently follows a strategy where they don't feel a need to address the complaints regarding the limitation of video recording and overall incompetence on the front camera of the people who prefers their flagship smartphones because they still believe all the qualities (at least hardware-wise) they provide apart from that are beyond just making up that. They assume they gain a lot of profit abstaining from extra R&D to apply a better implementation of front cameras on their flagships because of all that but I still believe they will give up next year.

just a smile, 27 May 2023So Xiaomi 13 Lite is not for boys?I hate it when people attribute the taste or preference of a design language or color for smartphones to a specific gender. (No color in our nature belongs to a certain gender, that pink was known as a male color well before 70s also proves my point). Aside from that, even this phone being a selfie oriented one doesn't make this a girly phone immediately, who says a male doesn't have a right to like shooting selfies, VLOGs or TikToks (even if I don't necessarily appreciate this but I respect) with the front camera?

LucaKirani, 27 May 2023All these companies are now jumping on and copying Huawei d... moreThis actually looks much more like a product of Vivo's recent influence on back and frame design of all recent smartphones: The color scheme and grading (though Huawei brought this on the table, vivo made it a lot more commonly known and applied with new techniques such as photochromic back), an emphasis on being thin and light (they still hold the record for the thinnest smartphone ever, check X5 Max as a reference), leather back, circular camera layout on the either side or at least not totally at the center etc.
