It can actually go up to Android 5.0.2 with its latest stable official ROM (MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM V9.2.2.0.LXAMIEK for Mi 2/2S) but you'll need to wipe the device clean and install it from Fastboot recovery. You'll lose native dual boot, but you'll get a bunch of upgrades along the way and some security fixes.
You may want to look at the homebrew ROM market though, it looks like AOSP 7 and 8 have been ported with a modicum of success.

mi 2 is best smart phone excelent camra quality , but procesor is low i.e. not sufficient for biggest game for ex. gta vice city etc.etc.
