Xiaomi MiPad 2 switches to Intel SoC, leaked pictures reveal

24 December, 2014

Xiaomi could already be working on a successor to its MiPad 7.9 which was unveiled earlier this year. The new tablet has allegedly been made the star of a quick photo session somewhere in China. At this stage there's no way to make sure that these images are really depicting the next MiPad and not some knockoff, so keep that in mind.

Alleged Xiaomi MiPad 2

The big news seems to be that Xiaomi will choose an Intel chipset for its next tablet, with a 1.8 GHz CPU, in contrast with the MiPad 7.9 which uses an Nvidia Tegra SoC.

The MiPad 2 should have the same screen size as its predecessor, and 2,048x1,536 resolution. 2GB of RAM can be found inside the tablet, along with 16GB of built-in storage. It runs MIUI based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

For now it's not clear when the next MiPad will become available, but if this is the real deal then expect to see a lot more leaks about it soon.
