Xiaomi Mix 4 debuts: under-display camera, Snapdragon 888+ and 120W charging
It took nearly three years but we finally have a true successor to the Mi Mix 3 and it’s a monumental leap forward. Welcome the Xiaomi Mix 4 – the brand’s first device to sport an under-display camera (or camera under panel as Xiaomi calls it) and arguably the most notable addition in the series since the original Mi Mix shook up the smartphone world back in 2016.
The big breakthrough here is hidden beneath the curved 6.67-inch AMOLED display where we find a 20MP selfie camera (1.6 µm sized pixels when the 4-in-1-pixel binning is applied) leaving the screen unblemished by cutouts. The workaround required a whole new type of flexible display and redesigned circuit array to maximize the transparency and in turn light reaching the selfie cam sensor.
Xiaomi used a new micro-diamond pixel pattern paired with rethought algorithms which ensure minimum light refraction. The area above the camera packs 400ppi density so even the tiniest of text remains perfectly readable. The whole panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, features a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
Mix 4 also brings a ceramic back and comes in white, black and gray colors. The stereo speakers are tuned by Harman/Kardon.
The rear camera setup is equally impressive with a 1/1.33-inch 108MP ISOCELL HMX main sensor with OIS. It’s joined by an optically stabilized 8MP periscope module with 5x optical zoom and 120mm equivalent focal length. A 13MP ultrawide snapper with a free-form lens and a reported 1% edge distortion completes the trio.
Xiaomi went with the latest Snapdragon 888+ chipset at the helm paired with 8/12GB RAM and 128/512GB storage.
Driving the pixel hungry display and flagship chipset is a 4,500 mAh battery and it brings lightning-quick 120W wired charging which can top up the battery in just 15 minutes in boost mode (21 mins in default) as well as 50W wireless charging which takes 28 minutes for a full recharge in boost mode.
Another key feature is the addition of ultra wideband (UWB) which allows for precise positioning data and smart device controls.
Mix 4 in black, white and silver
Mix 4 starts at CNY 4,999 ($770) and goes up to CNY 6,299 ($970) for the 12/512GB model. First sales in China are scheduled for August 16 while international availability will be detailed at a later point in time.

Once it arrives at "our" phones technology would have improved to the point that it doesn't eat away at battery life. stuff like 120W charging is certainly not ready now.
