Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 review
A total of three cameras
The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro has two cameras on its back - a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor plus an LED flash. There is also a 32MP front camera for video calls and selfie purposes. As usual for our tablet reviews, we won't go too in-depth in testing these cameras as for most people, tablets rarely leave their home or office.
The camera app has been optimized for tablet use, of course.
There is Auto Night Mode, though there is no Pro mode.
The 12.5MP from the rear camera are good - there is enough detail, no noise, accurate colors and wide dynamic range. They do look a bit overprocessed, especially where the foliage outresolves the sensor, but we are not looking at a cameraphone here, but a tablet.
The front camera uses a Quad-Bayer sensor, but saves the pictures in 32MP, meaning they come upscaled. Still, they are quite nice, with a good level of detail and pleasant rendition, accurate colors, well-exposed subject, and impressively wide dynamic range. The noise is low or tolerable, depending on the light conditions.
The rear camera supports up to 4K60 video capturing, while the front one maxes out at 1080p30. There is always-on electronic stabilization and stereo audio capturing.
The 4K video from the rear camera is very good - it has a lot of fine detail, low noise, excellent color rendition and wide dynamic range.
The same is valid for the Full HD video from the front camera. Here is a snapshot.

Our verdict
The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro starts at about €600 for its 8/256 version, which is a reasonable price for a flagship tablet. This one here has an excellent display, top-notch chipset, outstanding speakers, long battery life and exceptionally fast charging. If it were water-resistant, it would have been perfect, but a tablet is not the usual device you bring for selfies by the pool, is it?
The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro has a rich accessory lineup at launch - the Touchpad Keyboard (€150), the Cover Stand and the Focus Pen (€90) - which means you can make it act as a laptop and a notebook/sketchbook if needed for the right price. These accessories certainly don't come cheap.
This is the tablet you get instead of an iPad or the expensive Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Of course, Samsung and Apple will be ready to sell you smaller versions of their premium tablets for a similar price. But when it comes to tablets, screen size is everything. Plus, Xiaomi is also prepared to give you cheaper alternatives with its Redmi Pad series should you want a more mainstream alternative option.
Overall, Xiaomi has done very well with the Xiaomi Pad series, especially with the Pad 5 and Pad 6, and we are glad to see a new flagship model with such a large screen - an option that has been missing until now. We think the Pad 6S Pro is priced well and lives up to all its promises. It is a powerful tablet with the potential to act as a powerful laptop, too. You should consider it for its large screen, great performance, speakers, and battery life and super fast charging speed.
