joe nodden, 02 Feb 2023Either way it doesn't change the fact that the GPU in ... moreGPU requirements can always be tune down in most game unlike CPU requirements, FPS is limited by the CPU if not bottlenecked by the GPU, this is true in any game but especially more so in emulation gaming.

The 860, if crank to the max, is fine for short gaming session with breaks, but for most competitive people, they would probably reduce the settings down to a level where the 778g wouldn't fall behind with it's weaker GPU.

People focus too much on the GPU because they grew up on PC with intel crappy IGPU (pre ivy bridge, although some might even say pre sky lake) which can't game without a dedicated GPU, the 642L isn't as bad as the 619 in the SD695 and isn't a shit tier like 610 or worse.

There are cases where apps/games can't even use the GPU, such as termux at the moment and some emulators a while back, they using software rendering via the CPU.

Throttling matters too, imagine cranking up setting and seeing it running fine for about 5 minutes in match and it starts throttling to a janky mess, missing inputs and all that issue, network lag sucks but this CPU induced lag spike is worse.

In any case, regardless of what we both think of the 860 or 778g, we both agree the 870, like the Poco F3/k40 would be a better option.

This is what the X5 Pro will look like. the video is not fake : it's a real unboxing.

It's nothing than a rebranded RN 12 Speed Edition as i metined earlier.

And GPU performance matters most in games, which are what people need proper performance for the most. It's inexcusable for a product 2 generations newer to have any inferior aspects.

Of course if you can afford it, a 870 is way better than both 860 or 778g.

But yeah you're right, with that chipset it's way a better option than the other two. In fact I have the original, non-rebranded version of that phone, the K40. 😂 It's just been so long that it launched that I forgot it could be a good choice.

The CPU score isn't anywhere near 200k in the cpu department before any thermal throttling, and the total score isn't that low either. Where are you getting this 200k figure from?

Google image search seem to shows the 778g stays above 200k, while the 860 average under 150k and goes as low as 120k, while those results seem a bit sus for the 860, there are videos on youtube that shows low 120k scores.

I admit most users probably wouldn't push their phone so hard to reach those points, but then again, once in a while, I seen people gaming with case on, full brightness, in a hot environment.

120k and 200k is not just 7% difference.

The only things you would be losing are the headphone jack and MicroSD card slot.

But it's well worth the upgrade.

MG, 01 Feb 2023Should I buy Moto G82 instead or wait for POCO X% pro 5g?You shouldn't get either. The G82 has a horrendously slow SD695 and this has a slow SD778G. Neither can even shoot in 4K which makes you wonder why Motorola even bothered putting OIS in that thing.

Save up a tiny bit longer and get a K60E. It should only be like 30ish percent more at $378. But you'd be getting around twice the performance and among the best displays on the market. Only 2 downsides I can see are the lack of a card slot and headphone jack which the other two do have.

You do you though. It's your money. I'd do my research first though if I were you.

While the CPU performance gap is only about 7%. This is 2 generations of the series later, performance shouldn't even be comparable let alone significantly worse. And this is a chip that is essentially 4 years old at this point considering it's an overclocked 855, versus a chip that's not even a whole 2 years old yet.

Like I said before, mid range chipsets are a scam.

a few youtube video seem to put them close enough, 778g having better cpu somehow and weaker gpu, the 860 seem to heavily throttled the cpu on heavy usage, greatly increasing the cpu gap.
