AnonD-304476, 02 Oct 2014Hahaha Thanks for the Advice Bud, Im not much of a Geek..i ... morebut actually no need to underclock this... heating is due to miui only... it will overcome in future updatess... anyway u won't get ota update after rooting ur mobile (but u can install manually) if u lile to install cyanogenmod wait for the official stable rom from cyanogenmod unofficiall roms always have some glitches

      * This mobile has lot of issues like over heating, poor ram management, battery drain, poor display under sunlight, bulky MiUI with lot of bugs, app crashes, very poor loud speaker etc
      * after buying this mobile u have to dig in all these issues like rooting, custom roms, cyanogenmod 11, under or over clocking cpu(manufacturer dont know how to clock?lol), waiting and waiting for stable custom rom, begging for cm11 in their foroms(LOL). What the use of learning all these things? Will u open a mobile repair shop?LOL
      * only good thing about this mobile is that it is cheap, so u save money, but after buying this mobile u waste ur valuable time, TIME IS MORE VALUABLE THAN MONEY
      * my advice: if u dont want mobile urgently then wait for android one 2nd phase coming in december, if u want mobile urgently then go for either moto e or android one. If u dont care about camera then go for moto e otherwise go for android one

        The information on the web site is outdated. At the bottom of that page there is a product brief in pdf that states 1.6 GHz max. 1S uses newer qualcomm msm8228 that has 1.6GHz max clock speed, not overclocked msm8226 1.2 GHz as rumour says. Proof: http://en.miui.com/thread-49899-1-1.html . The heating problem is caused by bad design MIUI OS. Flash to CM11 kitkat, http://en.miui.com/thread-46610-1-1.html , and all problems with heating, short battery life, stability, multitasking, etc will go away. Some of the default setting of CM11 may caused some to think there are bugs, like no ringtones on sim2 (it is assignable in the setting of the dialer, not in android general setting), camera focus mode uses continuous as default instead of auto that causes problem in video recording, etc. Most of the problems on CM11 are minor and solvable. I use green power with cm11 r4, and I get around 15 hours battery life on my handset instead of only 6 hours on MIUI. Highly recommended.

          1st of all
          the max supprted cpu speed is upto 1.4 ghz arm cortex a7

          and redmi is having 1.6 ghz as u can all seee
          so i think it comes factory overclocked for improved performance since its running miui which demands cpu speed
          so thats why battery drain and heating issues
          The fix i recommend
          first of all root ur redmi
          dnt wrry it wont void ur warranty as xiaomi doesnt mind u rooting the phone :)

            Ive little experience with the rooting. I have used No Frill Cpu Earlier too...So im jus gonna use it to lower the cpu specs dats all.

              Wait guys, android one 2nd phase is comming in december. Google tied up with qualcomm, and qualcomm agreed to provided snapdragon chipsets to android one partners (htc, lenovo, asus, acer, alcatel, xolo, intex, micromax, karbonn, spice). Android one phase 2 is coming with snapdragon chipset and pure android from top brands like htc, asus. And motorola going to launch another 3 mobiles in christmas. So wait guys something big is coming in december.

                    i know i replied something else for ur comment but it is just precaution i would like to share with you :)

                                  i wanted your frank view regarding battery life after updating V43,has it improved,Iam on V41.1 and battery life isn't that great even after using battery savers,iam also keeping screen brightness on 17%,despite this battery drains
                                  Main thing is is it worth updating to V43 as till now it is not showing in OTA updates
                                  I dont have much issue with RAM and heating of phone as I dont play games so phone behaves all right
                                  I updated to V41.1 just 3 days back
