After a heavy debloat the phone became actually faster, more ram is available and battery draining is not an issue anymore. I use this phone for 2FA when needed but mainly this has became my personal radio listening device. It's a nice phone if you know how to debloat it. I wanted to install custom pixelOS rom on it but unlocking the bootloader is imposibble for me so I'm stuck on android 10 with MIUI 12.5.2 But Google Gemini is available so it's an actually still useful device.

Overall the performance of this device is good, especially if you use a custom ROM.

Bought in July 2020. Battery still strong. I surf internet on 4g mostly and got 6 hours screen time with 28% left as of today

I used this phone as my main from 2019 dec to 2024 february. I changed to a Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and I put my redmi 8 back to it's original phone after I did a hard reset on it. When I turned the phone back, the battery ran out in a few hours. I had an idea wich was what would happen if I disable and delete everything google related services from the phone? Well I just did. I disabled google play services, gmail, youtube, google, google play store, meta services, etc. After this the phone battery regained it's full power and the phone is just as fast as it was back in 2019 out from the box. I love doing experiments on my phones, especially on older models. Anybody who still use this phone you should try this. It increase battery capacity and decrease ram usage a little bit wich is awesome since the Redmi8 has only 4GB ram wich is not enough on the latest MIUI 12.5.2 Update the phone received. You can still use youtube and other google services from a different browser app just don’t forget to download all the apps you need before disabling every google service because the Xiaomi Getapps store lacks a lot of popular apps. Well I know this isn't the place of big stories but I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you too going to try out this little trick of mine.

I use this phone for 4 yrs.. I buy Redmi 8 global version. 3gb ram 32 rom. I have issues when I try open more than 1 apps. I use to internet banking, when I use chrome and need the TAC number, I open message to read TAC but when I back to chrome, google chrome reload the page maybe crash because I open message. I think 3 gb Ram is quiet good but this phone keep laggy.
