Of Qualcomm's offering for 2020, SD865, SD765G, SD720G, only SD765G is mildly interesting. In the absence of meaningful competition from MediaTek, SD765G would be a choice for many phone-makers. But MediaTek has spoiled Qualcomm's party with its Dimencity series. In the presence of D800, D1000L and D1000, SD765G looks like a child of malnutrition.

Qualcomm's offering for 2020 is kind of disappointing. Everyone in the field knows that the year of 2020 is meant to be a massive coming-out party for 5G smartphones, yet Qualcomm still doesn't off a flagship solution with an integrated 5G modem. Really? We will be made even more painfully aware of this sad fact when new chips from other vendors coming out in the next few months. Hopefully Qualcomm will release a version of SD765++ with integrated 5G in the 2nd half of 2020.

We do need more MediaTek SoCs, but not the P series, G series or Helio series. Get rid of P series, G series and Helio series altogether, and re-direct all the effort to Dimencity series, which is the future of MediaTek. We would like see MediaTek expand Dimencity series, towards lower-end and higher-end, with D400, D500, D600, D700, D1100, D1200, etc. We would like to have our "AMD vs Intel" moment in the smartphone field.
