MediaTek's newer Dimensity chipsets are now better at battery and heat management than ever, and are built on newer architectures than Snapdragon. Chipsets like the Dimensity 1200 handle thermals even better than the "flagship" SD 888 that throttles on every single phone that sports it.

Other than best performance and battery e... moreThey're different kinds of custom (unofficial) rom. You can build a rom for Snapdragon from scratch. Whereas you can only port roms for Mediatek from other phones
I'm not saying ported rom equals bad. I've had my share using ported rom on Mediatek devices, and I can say they're really good. It's just.. it would be nicer if they were releasing their source code so we can have an actual Mediatek build roms

I have seen phones with SD and without Unofficial ROMs
But I haven't seen meditek without one
And you can use gcam to boost photography
