Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G review

HyperOS and Android 14
The Redmi Note 14 5G runs on HyperOS based on Android 14. It's a combination we've already seen numerous times on current Xiaomi phones, and unfortunately, only a handful of those newly released devices run on the latest Android 15 version with HyperOS 2.0. After all, Android 15 came around in early Q4 last year.

In any case, the manufacturer promises 2 major OS upgrades and 4 years of security patches, but since the device is one version behind, it will end with Android 16, expected to arrive by the end of this year.
We've already reviewed this specific HyperOS 1.0 + Android 14 combo in a dedicated article, so we suggest you check that one out. Keep in mind that some higher-end features are not available on this Redmi.
In addition to the already-known features, the incremental HyperOS 1.02 upgrade brings some AI-powered features, which aren't all available right away and are expected to come soon via an OTA update.
The AI features available on the Redmi Note 14 5G and 14 4G are AI Erase, AI Sky and AI Beautify - all Gallery-related functionalities. The phone also supports Google's Gemini AI.
In contrast, the Pro and Pro+ models also offer the Circle to Search on top of the above. The Pro+ even has AI Interpreter, AI Notes, AI Recorder, AI Subtitles and AI Film.
It's perhaps noteworthy that we found quite a bit of ads in system apps, even in Europe. You can disable them for each app, but it's annoying and time-consuming.
Benchmark performance
The Redmi Note 14 5G runs on an upgraded MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset, a close relative to the Dimensity 7020 but with a higher CPU clocks. The same 2x Cortex-A78 + 6x Cortex-A55 configuration is at hand, but the main Cortex-A78 units are clocked at 2.5 GHz, instead of 2.2 GHz. The Cortex-A55 cores remain 2.0 GHz. The IMG BXM-8-256 GPU also sticks around.

When it comes to memory configurations, the Note 14 5G starts from 6GB/128GB, and it's also available in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB. All storage chips are UFS 2.2 and can be expanded with a microSD card using one of the SIM card slots.
As you can see, the Redmi Note 14 5G's Dimensity 7025 SoC is a step up from last year's model, but it drags behind similarly priced competitors. Not that the chipset is underperforming but it might not be the best pick for the current price bracket. Even the vanilla Poco X7, which costs just about the same as the Note 14 5G, is rocking a more powerful Dimensity 7300 chip.
Even though the Dimensity 7025 SoC is a capable budget solution and a notable improvement over the Dimensity 6080 used in last year's Redmi Note 13 5G, the Redmi Note 14 5G is a bit behind with the performance in this price segment. Also, the chip doesn't support some Vulkan features, so we couldn't run the 3DMark tests we normally use for comparisons.
Sustained performance
The Dimensity 7025 chip isn't very demanding in nature, so the Redmi Note 14 5G can keep it running at full load without any throttling issues.
The body didn't get too warm either.
