Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G review
A versatile triple-camera setup
Xiaomi might have cut some corners when it comes to performance, but the camera department on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G is one area that doesn't appear to have suffered. Just like its Global 5G sibling, the 4G variant boasts a high-resolution 200MP main camera with multi-directional PDAF and OIS.
The main camera is a 200MP Samsung unit - the S5KHP3, commonly known as the ISOCELL HP3. This is the exact same camera as the one found inside the Global Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. Then we have an 8MP ultrawide. However, unlike the 5G model that uses a Sony sensor, the 4G variant employs a GalaxyCore GC08A8. The 2MP macro camera is also different. Here, it is based on the SmartSens SC202CS sensor.
Finally, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G has a 32MP selfie camera, as opposed to the 20MP unit on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. This one is based on an OmniVision OV32D40 sensor.
- Wide (main): 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3, TetraPixel, f/1.65, 1/1.4", 0.56µm, OIS, multi-directional PDAF; 1080p@30fps
- Ultrawide: 8 MP GalaxyCore GC08A8, f/2.2, 1/4.4", 1.0µm, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps.
- Macro: 2 MP SmartSens SC202CS, 1/5.1", 1.75µm, f/2.4
- Front camera: 32 MP OmniVision OV32D40, f/2.2, 1/3.0", 0.7µm; 1080p@30fps
Daylight photo quality
The main camera captures binned stills at right around 12.5MP by default. These are decent overall, with a good amount of detail and nice colors. Contrast and dynamic range could be better, though.

Portraits from the main camera are quite good, even if not particularly impressive in any way. Subject detection and separation do trip up occasionally. Still, we like the quality of the background blur. There are toggles in the camera UI for both 1x and 2x portraits.

You can force the main camera to capture in its full 200MP resolution. This provides some benefits to fine detail. There is also less sharpening in the frame, which leads to a softer and more natural look. However, the difference isn't that major, and we are hesitant to deal with such huge file sizes.

The 2x zoom shots from the main camera look good - at least much better than those from the Poco X7's 50MP camera. They bear much of the same positive aspects as the regular 1x shots.

Ultrawide camera
The 8MP ultrawide camera on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G isn't particularly impressive. Detail is about average, contrast is mediocre, and the frame has a lot of noise.

Macro camera
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G has a dedicated 2MP macro camera. You can't expect too much from such a camera. We guess the photos are usable but definitely not impressive. There is plenty of noise and softness. The limited 2MP resolution isn't helping either.

Selfie camera
The 32MP selfie camera does alright, but it's nothing to phone home about. The detail is okay, but facial features look a bit soft.

Low-light camera quality
Night Mode is available for the main and ultrawide cameras and triggers automatically.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G produces excellent nighttime photos with its main camera. There is a lot of detail, no noise, pleasant color saturation and wide dynamic range.

The 2x zoomed photos are cropped and upscaled from the regular ones. And if you don't look at them at 100% magnification, you will find them just fine.

At nighttime, the ultrawide camera remains unremarkable. The photos are soft and with poor contrast. At least the color saturation is fine, and the dynamic range is good. These photos are balanced and look fine on the phone's screen, but their image quality won't hold to scrutiny.

Video capture quality
Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G is limited to 1080p video capture by its Helio G100 chipset.
There is always-on electronic stabilization working across all cameras but the macro.
You can check out the playlist below, which includes multiple video samples.
The FullHD videos from the main camera are largely unimpressive. Detail is rather poor, and everything looks quite soft. At least colors look decent. The 2x zoomed videos are upscaled from the standard footage and are still a little softer.
The daylight video from the ultrawide camera is decent, though nothing to phone home about. Frankly, we would have appreciated a bit more detail and a bit more sharpness. At least colors look great, and we have good contrast and dynamic range.
Low-light videos from the main camera are pretty mediocre, but they are still usable. There is some detail in the frame and some, but not an overwhelming amount of noise. Colors look decent. At 2x zoom, videos are noticeably softer. The ultrawide camera captures very soft videos with blown-out light sources and highlights.
Finally, all cameras have always-on electronic stabilization (except the macro cam, of course). The stabilization is basic, and you can't expect much from it - it does an okay job when shooting from a stationary position and handholding the phone during recording. However, for anything more demanding - like walking shake - the system will struggle to keep things stable and there is a lot of wobble.

Yes. 4G with only half the cancer rate of 5G. You should try it.

Wait they are selling 4G phone? For 300 €? In 2025? Is this real?
