this problem is with MIUI kitkat ROM, it doesnt provide the write permissions.
I have xiomi redmi note 4g
try "DROID OVER WIFI" IT WORKS
ONLY THING IS WHEN SHARING Receiver and Sender must be in the same wifi network
or you can use third mobile to start hotspot then connect 2 mobiles to it.

The issue is that Xiaomi do not indicate any specified models and there are at least 3 and more, totally different model. Such as i bought a Note with 64GB memory 3GB ram, etc that come with MIUI 7. I have to verified several features in order to know which is my model "Mi Note" what!?
That may be the cause of your problem.

k, 26 Oct 2015I get Google updates on my phone. Do check your settings.It is based on which models.
For China market, it is not Google support, as only 2 language, English & Chinese.
Xiaomi have some variant model on Note. The one i mentioned earlier is based on Note 4G 8GB memory is not approved type, partly it is export model. So Xiaomi just indicate as "Mi Note" without anyway which model it is, and which is for which country.
Recently bought Note (just "Mi Note") with 64GB internal 3GB ram, dual band, curve front screen, a lot other features which may be better than others. This is Google approved.
