Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro and Watch S4 are also official

The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 went official a few months back, and today it's received a sibling: the Smart Band 9 Pro. Like previous Pro versions in Xiaomi's best-selling line of wearables, this one has a larger, squarer screen compared to the non-Pro Smart Bands.

The Smart Band 9 Pro's display is 1.74" in diameter, AMOLED of course, with 336x480 resolution and 1,200-nit peak brightness. The entire wearable measures 43.27 x 32.49 x 10.8 mm and weighs 24.5g thanks to its aluminum alloy body.

It's 5ATM water resistant, and has a 350 mAh battery that's rated for up to 21 days of use. It has NFC on board, along with Bluetooth 5.4 and GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS support. It's compatible with smartphones running Android 8 and later, as well as iPhones running iOS 12 and later.

Like any device of its type, the Smart Band 9 Pro measures your heart rate, blood oxygen level, stress, and analyses your sleep too. There are over 150 sports modes to choose from, including enhanced tracking for running and swimming.

The Smart Band 9 Pro starts at CNY 399 ($56), while magnetic quick release straps are priced at CNY 169 ($23) and leather quick release straps at CNY 99 ($13).

The Watch S4 has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466x466 resolution and 2,200-nit peak brightness, and a user-swappable bezel. It has 5ATM water resistance too, as well as over 150 sport modes.

The watch comes in two versions, one of them with eSIM support. It measures 47.3 x 47.3 x 12 mm and weighs 44.5g. It has Bluetooth 5.3 and supports the same satellite positioning systems and phone operating systems as the Smart Band 9 Pro.

Like that product, it also monitors your heart rate, blood oxygen level, and stress. The watch additionally has built-in running training courses and AI-driven route planning (whatever that means). The dual-mode walkie-talkie function and eSIM support allow for listening to music and making calls without a phone.

You can reply to messages, send emojis, and control Xiaomi smart home devices directly from the watch. In China, you can also use it as an NFC car key. The Watch S4 starts at CNY 999 ($140).

This launch event was for the Chinese market only, so we don't yet know when these devices will make it to international markets, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

It's difficult to justify upgrading from Pro 7 or 8 for the measly enhancements in Pro 9. If it's a "first plunge", it is probably a good buy. They still seem unable to address themselves to the continued use of unnecessary BEZE...
