Xperia is "a very important business for us", says Sony CFO

Some have expressed concern over the future of Xperia phones following reports that the company is looking for third-party manufacturers for future high-end models (Xperia mid-rangers are already made by ODMs) and after the company started to pull back from Europe. If you were among those concerned, here’s some good news.

Sony Group CFO Sue Lin said that Xperia is “a very important business for us” during a briefing on the company’s financial results earlier today. Lin repeated something that Sony has stated in the past too – “communication technology is used for things other than smartphones”.

The launch of the Sony Xperia 1 VII hasn’t been smooth sailing – issues forced Sony to pause sales and announce a replacement program. The 1 VII is the only new model that Sony has announced this year and we haven’t seen any leaks about upcoming Mark 7 models for the Xperia 5 and 10 series.
