ZTE announces Open C and Open II Firefox OS smartphones

Last year, ZTE announced the first smartphone running on the Mozilla Firefox OS at MWC 2013, the ZTE Open. This year, ZTE has two new smartphones running Firefox OS, called the Open C and the Open II.



The Open C has a 4.0-inch, WVGA (800x480) display, dual-core 1.2GHz MSM8210 Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, 3 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity and a 1400mAh battery. The Open C will be initially launched with Telefónica in Venezuela and Uruguay during the second quarter of 2014.



The Open II has a 3.5-inch, HVGA 480x320) display, dual-core 1.2GHz MSM8210 Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 256MB RAM, 2GB internal memory, a 2 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity and 1150mAh battery.

ZTE plans to ship more than one million Firefox smartphones this year and release a 4.5-inch Firefox smartphone by 2015.

Unless you live somewhere that ZTE sold this phone at retail I wouldn't expect an official update. ZTE sold this phone unofficially as a developer preview (through ebay) to most regions. They are doing the same with the Open C. That being said you ca...

I don't think companies like LG or ZTE have enough decency to invest a substantial amount of money to upgrade their 'sold' and 'old' products...

Will ZTE bring decent updates to these phones, I bought an Open to see what all the fuss with Firefox OS is and found that they are still running old versions of the OS and are very slow to update.
