ZTE Blade V8 Mini hands-on

The ZTE Blade V8 Mini is the fancier part of the V8 duo. It looks a lot like the Lite model, even has the same screen, but has a different chipset and a dual-camera setup on the back.

The Blade V8 Mini is also made of metal with sandblasted finish, but it lacks silver lines around its antenna strips. Instead, the V8 Mini emphasizes the camera plate with a uniquely shaped top strip.

The 13MP sensor with autofocus, and its 2MP companion for depth information, occupy half of the black camera glass, while the LED flash helps with fitting between the two sensors. ZTE promises variable aperture settings starting at f/1.0 up to f/8.0, so you can snap some nice bokeh shots.

The Blade V8 Mini is powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset with an octa-core 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 505. These specs are far from impressive once again, but they will do for a smooth 720p Android experience.

We are fond of the rear-mounter fingerprint scanners and both V8s have such biometric security under their cameras.

The V8 Mini runs on Android Nougat with a ZTE custom skin on top. It will be available in various markets across Asia Pacific and Europe, though ZTE doesn't specify when and at what price.
