ZTE Nubia X6 visits Tenaa, is a 6.44" phablet

20 March, 2014

ZTE has been teasing the upcoming Nubia X6 flagship with tidbits of info, but a cache of specs was discovered at Tenaa. Unlike the Nubia Z phones, the X6 is a phablet – a whopping 6.44" phablet to rival the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

The screen is a TFT LCD with 1080p resolution. The large display pushes the dimensions to 175.9 x 89 x 7.9mm and the Nubia X6 phablet weighs 220g.

The ZTE Nubia X6 is powered by a quad-core processor at 1.7GHz (unknown core architecture) with 2GB RAM. Somewhat disappointingly it runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The camera department also doesn’t sound too exciting – from the teasers we know it will feature optical image stabilization, but the main camera is listed as 8MP. The Tenaa specs also claim optical zoom, but we guess it's a setup similar to the one on the Oppo Find 7 rather than actual optical zoom.

Video recording is limited to 1080p, which is also a bit of a letdown since we were expecting 2160p video capture like on the Nubia Z5S.

At least this puts the 75MP camera rumor to rest.

The phablet will also feature a microSD card slot, HDMI out (MHL we're guessing), TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE. The TD connectivity is China-specific, and there's no info on an international version just yet.

Maybe the 75 mpix feature is just an upscale software, like Oppo's SuperZoom. So ZTE 8 = 75 mpix, and Oppo 13 = 50 mpix.

I don't think this is much of a competitor for the Z Ultra as far as specs, build quality, etc. But they might make up for it on price.
