ZTE nubia Z60S Pro

I've had almost zero issues with this phone so far. I've owned a lot of phones in the past couple years (a few redmi K series phone, legion y70, ace 2 pro, red magic 9), and before all that I've had a few older oneplus phones, one of the samsung galaxy edge's, a few google phones etc.
Is it the best phone? No not really. But for the price it has been amazing value. Paid only 340 USD for the 16/512gb version.
I rate it 9.5/10 if I consider the price, 8/10 if I were to compare to top end flagships.
I will list the few issues I've had so far, but this has been by far one of the phones I've had least issues with.
Battery is decent, but not amazing. A lot of better battery phones out there. Some of my last phones had a bit better battery but they were horrible for apps and notifications, so many things didnt work properly because of their overly aggressive battery optimization. I think nubia software trades off battery a bit to have things work properly.
When phone arrived OS was already latest version, I've only had one OTA update since, which was like a month or two ago. This phone will probably remain on android 14 forever. Not a big deal for me, especially for the price, but if I were comparing to flagship phones and paid more for the device this would be a put off. I also would have liked having decent custom rom support and rooting guide, but not a big deal these days.
Screen is very nice, but I did get some screen retention issues when I was using the same app almost all day for a few days straight. It went away after I stopped using the app for a couple days but it was kinda scary. This tells me that the panel model is probably good, but nubia might be using cheaper b-grade stock. I have not found anyone else who had the same issue with some googling for this model, but I've seen one or two people complain about it for other nubia phones. Seems its not a widespread issue, but would be slightly alarming if I were to compare to other flagships and had paid more for the device.
wifi 6 not working with xfinity xb8 modem/routers. This seems to be a known issue with a lot of wifi 6 devices and this modem so it's more likely an issue with the modem itself. Just wanted to put it out there as a heads up. Disabling wifi 6 in the router fixes this.
yeah thats it. the rest of the experience has been amazing and close to perfect. software experience has been very good. everything just works. camera is very nice for the price. probably the best camera phone ive had in a while, the only other good ones I've had in my subjective experience is my lg v20, and ace2. Im not a huge camera person but the rest of the phones Ive had noticeably pretty bad picture taking ability. very fast phone. if I ever upgrade the only things I would want changed is to have the under screen camera (like the ultra series phones) and better battery (which new gen phones are already getting anyways with the new si-ca 6000+mah batteries all the phones are getting now).
if the above issues are not deal breakers for you I highly recommend this phone if you can get it as cheap as I did. You wont find a better phone for this price with good north american band support. There are some good options in the chinese market but they dont come with global rom or good band support for other countries.

Anonymous, 05 Mar 2025I feel this phone has absolutely terrible value for the cost.It is so true. It is a complete waste of money purchasing this device (Global Version). It is so buggy. I believe the problem lies within the software. Terrible Phone Companies

g, 06 Dec 2024The shop is called ZTE Official Store. Not very responsible shop as I have experience buying it from this shop. The seller did not warn the users about updating the OS. After updating the OS, it stops recognizing the sim cards. When asked why, the seller said its motherboard needs to be replaced and I needed to pay for it just after about one week of purchasing it.

Nick, 29 Jan 2025I want this phone for the 35mm main cam but still can'... moreYou should not go for it. Even with the global version and it comes clean, not many essential applications are not pre-installed. This means even the video player and music player you will need to download them.
Most important of all, if you update the firmware, the phone call - which is the most basic yet essential function - might stop recognizing the sim cards. And there are a lot of bugs going on.
I have been using this device (Nubia Z60s pro) for a while. It is NOT worth spending your budget on it. It is better to go for a more global and more stable device thought more expensive - Samsung or Iphone.
Just my experiences.

I want this phone for the 35mm main cam but still can't afford it. Does anyone know how long ZTE/Nubia take to drop the price significantly. It's been out 5 months so far and still no significant drop through official channels. AliEx had hovered at the same price for a while now too

Looks like the phone doesn't support Wi-Fi calling on the global version, has anyone managed to find the option of Wi-Fi calling on any of the available versions?

I've had my phone for a week now. good phone, stock android with just a few Google apps. already got a new update yesterday, update notes say it improves battery, and a few other things.
Initial impressions:
- fast
- nice screen
- very nice build quality
- good camera
- nice software (global rom)
- everything just works so far. No issues
- good frequency support in NA. Supports all my bands.
- battery could be better but is not bad. Usually 2-3 days before I need to charge but my recorded screen on time isn't super high (I get around 7-8 hours on full charge)
- charges super fast
- speakers sound decent but need a bit more bass
- fingerprint reader isn't great. It works okay if you compare to older phones, but for similar gen and current gen phones it's just not great. They should have just stuck to a physical one if they wanted to cut corners.
Overall I'm pretty happy, got the 16/512 black model for only 540 CAD (375 usd), and seller declared value as 79 for customs so I didn't pay tax.
Wishlist for newer model:
- better battery. A lot of new silicon carbon battery models coming out. Sadly none for global market at this price range.
- better speakers.
- better fingerprint reader.
- maybe upgraded soc and camera to stay competitive? Personally I'm happy with these
- upgraded screen (I want something like the z70 ultra screen, it's nice)
- z50s pro aesthetic or similar. Imo z50s pro was a better looking phone.

I haven't received mine yet, but here's some other cool stuff I found.
So, it seems that you can use the USB-C port to output video. It also seems to support sideloading some apps from the Red Magic or Ultra variants.
Out of the box, the RedMagic SmartCast Studio app "should" work with this phone, I saw a Japanese reviewer use it, running an app exclusively on the computer monitor by casting it over Wi-Fi, and using the phone's screen as a touchpad.
"Maybe" it's possible to run an app exclusively on an external display over USB, but I don't know. This would be cool, I'd like to try plugging it into a pen display.
To me it looks like for the most part ZTE is reusing the Z60 Ultra's software on this phone. Even the camera app doesn't seem like a stripped down version.
I've been on the fence on whether to keep the Z60s Pro I bought once I get it, or just get the RedMagic 10 Pro instead. The Z70 Ultra is cool but not as big of an upgrade as the Red Magic in other areas, though maybe that means giving up on the cameras, pretty much. Realistically it's not worth it, but just entertaining the idea.

rahsan, 21 Oct 2024But some are saying that it will not get any android OS upd... moreIf might get like one major update, at some much later point but you shouldn't get this phone if android updates are a worry for you. Look at the OnePlus 12R (or the ace version), iqoo neo10, redmi k80, or realme neo 7 when ir comes out. These will all be around the same price. If you need global rom OnePlus 12r is basically your only option but has very good software support. If you don't mind flashing custom rom the redmi k80 will probably get xiaomi eu debloated roms soon enough, fixed to work like a global rom, just need to make sure it has the bands you need. The iqoo neo10 is the cheapest of the bunch and gives you a snapdragon 8 gen 3 phone for very very cheap, but there's no global rom and you would need to make sure it has the bands you need. For me I wanted good band support, build quality, large screen and global rom, so the only two options for me were OnePlus 12r and z60s pro. If the k80 had a bigger screen or the iqoo neo10 had global rom or good custom rom I would have rather went one of those but they don't. The nice camera is a nice bonus.

g, 29 Nov 2024I just bought one on AliExpress for $375 for the 512GB mode... moreI also got the 16/512gb version for 375 USD, the 12/256 GB was only like 20-25 bucks cheaper for black version, and the cyan version was a little cheaper than that but I didn't like how it looks and it shipped a lot later.. This phone was on a really good deal for cybermonday and black Friday. Kind of a steal for what you get. Basically a last gen flagship for a third of the price.

I just bought one on AliExpress for $375 for the 512GB model (the 256GB model is $40 less). I think it's a better deal in terms of camera and performance than anything at this price range, or even a bit higher.

People said that the Oppo Find X7 Ultra review took way too long to make it into completion, with 52 days. Well, what about the nubia Z60S Pro, which has been in for review for 87 days and still no review? 💀

I got this machine for $390 as an upgrade to a Galaxy A50 I've had since 2019. I don't think there's a better new phone for that price.
