Just got this tablet today. Display is great. I ran the Phone Tester app from the play store and it shows that this tab does have both accelerometer and gyroscope and the display supports 10 finger multitouch. Sound out of earphones is great but the built in speakers are not very loud. Viewing angles are very good. I just hope I can find a case and screen protector. The device also warms up even when just browsing with wifi -- not as hot as my laptop but enough to make my hands a little sweaty. I haven't tried gaming yet though so I don't know how hot it might get or how well it performs. The bezels are a little wide and the width at the bottom part is a little off-putting but I think it's better for the side bezels to be wide to prevent accidental presses. The UI is smooth but you can sometimes notice periods of low frame rate. The back camera has autofocus but no flash. I expected the quality of the shots to be better however. I'm still looking for a case and screen protector though.

angel.d.saint, 01 Oct 2014Are you sure it has gyro? Then why do some compass apps... moreOops. Finally saw a brochure. Yup, indeed the Tab 8 has gyro sensor! Which means the aforementioned apps were in compatible due to most probably the OS compatibility.

Then why do some compass apps at Google Play indicate that my unit isn't compatible with it? Whereas my Asus ZenFone 5 was able to download it and it performs well.

I have this now for more than a day. After initial charging (required 4 hours as per Acer), I immediately used it connected to Wi-Fi. With almost non-stop use (screen almost always on at 10% brightness (screen is really great), I got to about 5 hours before the battery went dead. That included about 30 or so minutes of 3D (Asphalt 8) and 2D (PvZ2) gaming. A little disappointed actually. But perhaps it would do better in a video loop test. I hope. Haven't tested it yet. My Asus MeMo Pad 7 HD fared better last time I used it in my initial tests (7 to 8 hrs.), though I think I wasn't connected; just tinkering with the device and playing some games. In comparison, I also have the Asus ZenFone 5 which I bought 3 weeks ago, and that phone lasted 3:45 to more than 4:30 with Wi-Fi on, screen constantly on, benchmarking, playing games, surfing the net, and a lot if background apps. FYI, Acer has 4600 mAh (i didnt know that; it's just listed as 17Wh); MemoPad is rated at 3,950 mAh; ZenFone has 2,110 man juice). HTH

Several people want to know about the battery life. I have had this tablet since June (yes, long before the official release) and so far I have noticed that it's battery seems to give me much less time than what I get out of my Nexus 7 (the only device I have to compare with). The tablet is larger but I doubt the size of the screen is the root cause. It could be software or it could be a difference in running an Intel vs. ARM processor (maybe both?). Real world experience feels like I get roughly 1/2 to 3/4 the battery life of my Nexus 7. It will last me several days with my usual usage but my Nexus will give me more like a full week of similar usage.

Really I wouldn't say it's battery life is terrible considering that I'm used to charging several of my devices every day but I'm sure it could be better. Perhaps a future software update will help.

But if it priced right then I may consider it...

The limitation to 32 GB MicroSD cards is the reason I will not buy this tablet. I already have 64 GB and 128 GB cards.

It would be perfect if the screen is still 4:3 aspect ratio as 830 and 810 series.

Looks great, great specs & you know what - I love these a bit bigger bezels! I don't get the no-bezels-trend with tablets, come on, not everyone has hands big enough to hold it from the back(its a tablet not a phone). Its actually very comfortable to be able to grab the tablet between 2 fingers on the side without warring that you'll touch the screen; that's how I always hold my old galaxy tab. Plus great screen and processor, 2 GB of RAM and probably nice price... good work Acer, I just found my new tablet :)
