Cameraless Nokia E51 surfaces

07 Feb, 2008

Just a couple of hours ago, Nokia silently introduced a new addition to the business family on the "E" series phones - the camera-free variant of the Nokia E51.

Nokia E51 camera-free variant sports the same good set of business features as the old Nokia E51. However in the new handset the 2 megapixel camera has been dropped due to the fact that camera phones are prohibited in some corporate buildings. We cannot say that we are surprised by the appearance of such version as the E51’s predecessor Nokia E50 had the two versions right from its release.

In addition, the camera-free Nokia E51 features extensive email integration, including Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email and Mail for Exchange to communicate with Microsoft Exchange Server as well as consumer emails.

The camera-free Nokia E51 is expected to begin shipping as early as Q1 2008 at an estimated retail price of 250 EUR, before subsidies or taxes. Strangely enough this is more than the camera-enabled version of the phone currently costs.

No camera is definitely needed option for people in businesses that don't allow them. This phone will do well.
