Debunked: Redmi's next phone won't be called Redmi X

Ivan, 02 May 2019

Yesterday a teaser poster surfaced, seemingly confirming that Redmi's next phone will be called the Redmi X. Well, it won't be.

Redmi GM Lu Weibing has gone on record on Weibo to say that Redmi X isn't the name of the phone and that Redmi will have a better name for it.

This spares us tech journos and the general public from further confusion between Xiaomi's Redmi and Oppo's Realme. The latter looks certain to release a device called Realme X.

Back to Redmi. Xiaomi's sub-brand is expected to drop a Snapdragon 855-powered device later this year with a triple camera and pop-up selfie camera. But it's expected that Redmi will first release a Snapdragon 730-powered phone.

nobody cares if it looks like the iphone, they are making more sales than apple. look at the decline in shipments for q1 for their iphones. huawei is slaughtering them.

I wonder if this will support wireless charging.
