Cons (coming from Mi Max 1 3/32)
Yellowish tint on screen, can be somewhat fixed
Rather small battery 7h sot for me (no gaming)
Only a tiny bit larger screen for a bump in physical size
Software is a bit tricky to root/flash and get google to work
          No soft keys

          Pros
I'm an LCD man. Never expected to be attracted to amoled because I want sharpness, lifespan, brightness, battery life over contrast. I gotta say though that this 6.6" screen although being a bit unefficient with power looks great and I have enjoyed the contrast very much. The bump in resolution wasn't noticeable at first but now very much so. (I like 1080p lcd very much because it's sharp, no pentile) This 1440 pentile amoled is sharp enough. Slightly sharper than the 1080p on Mimax. At first I was annoyed by the odd rgb "glimmer" but now I don't care anymore.

Usb-c port feels nice and stable for charging. No more crappy connections anymore.

Charging is more or less the same speed always. On mimax sometimes its slow sometimes fast (with qc3 charger).

Cpu is very very nice with over 1700 on geekbench single and over 5000 on geekbench multi. For a 2-3y old phone still beating mimax1/2/3 it's quite the proof that kirin kicks ass. It's also rather power efficient.

Better memory management in Emui. Fewer closed apps.

No bending in the chassi like the Mimax1

Best pro reason to get the phone though is the record large screen 6.6inch 16:9 aspect ratio optimal for media consumption. No larger phone less than 3y old is available in 16:9.

          Cheap

huehueheuheuhe, 29 Nov 2018the price tho. it's far far far far higher Even today?.
Is the honor note 8 still recomendable on 2019 for someone wants a phone for 2 years?.

I don't see much price difference between the honor note 8 and the mi max 3. The fact that the screen is AMOLED make it a big alternative. The 8x max turn out to have bad cameras and the mi max 3 seems good enough but doesn't have an amazing display and audio quality from the headphone jack.

alca, 09 Feb 2019Hi! I'd like to get this phone but I wonder if 6.6inch is t... moreI owned the mi max 2 before moving to the note 8. Without measuring the screen I can say it's not only bigger but way more vibrant and beautiful.

The super AMOLED screen on the honor note 8 is far superior to the mi max 2, the speaker is louder and richer and the overall build quality is superior. The atennas in the phone are far better. It's a better phone in every department.

I now own the honor note 10 and its better than the note 8 in every department even though it has a lower resolution screen. I also prefer the old aspect ratio but you get used to it on the note 10. The screen still feels big but it's easier to handle.

Plus with the gesture feature on the note 10 you have no on-screen buttons if you wish to get rid of them which gives you full screen usage all the time. No buttons in the way or navigation ball.

I still use my note 8 everyday and love it and love the note 10

Ash123, 07 Feb 2019Is still a good buy?. I'm tired of seeing more and more 19.... moreHello it's still good to buy if you can get it cheap. I have both the note 8 and the note 10. Both are about the same price brand new. The CPU speeds are very close but the note 10 has a better GPU and CPU, better speakers and a brighter screen with better contrast.

Overall the note 10 is a better phone but I still use my note 8 for browsing the web watching Netflix and YouTube as I prefer the larger aspect ratio and its fast performance.

For gaming it has to be the note 10 as the GPU in the note 8 is rather weak but all games are playable but demanding games work better on low settings. I still use my note 8 everyday and I love it

Hi! I'd like to get this phone but I wonder if 6.6inch is true or not, with or without black border bla bla. Can someone please help me measure the real diagonal in mm from corner to corner pixel. My xiaomi max 6.44inch is exactly 163mm ~ 6.417inch diagonally.

Is still a good buy?. I'm tired of seeing more and more 19.9 aspect ratio phone, I just want 16.9 with good screen and hopefully big . 6.5" sounds ideal. But I know that an old phone would have updates problems, is still recommended?. New apps and games will run properly?

Hello. Need your help. I recently did the update to android 8. But after the update, the display quality has lowered. Earlier in 40% brightness, the video quality was much better and on top of having a super amoled, it was fantastic. But after the update, even if i keep the brightness to 85% the video clarity is not much. Even under sunlight, I cant see the phone screen properly. Can I update back to older android version. If yes, how to do it or how to increase the brightness on the new update. Its already on FQHD.

I still think this phone is worth buying over the new mi max 3. Its just a better device and its an upper midrange flagship device compared to the budget mi max series

Biggest and best phone ever made, unlike these stupid 19:9 phones they come out with now that claim to be like 7 inches but might as well be 5 because they are so skinny
