I had a huawei p30pro before I bought my iphone 12. I do like the iphone 12 series, my only thing is the camera, they don't invest in the camera as much. I wanted a smaller phone 6'1 so this is good.
The iphone 12 will recover updates for another year, but apple sometimes goes further. So of u are getting this model ur good for a couple of years, BCS it does have a new chip, the battery every iphone user will have to replace it at one point. So..

If it's for reliability and budget, an iphone 11 direct, 5G isn't very useful at the moment and the one on the 12 is pretty inefficient, like the one on the pixel 6 pro.
I recently downgraded to an iphone 7 plus because my 12 mini was suffering from serious connection problems and a significant drop in battery life even in standby mode. I had heard that the 12 had other problems...
If you want oled, I'd recommend an 11 pro.
4G still has a long way to go, 3G in my country is still present, but in some countries it has disappeared. Secondly, software updates are a kind of absurdity for me.
For those who want to keep their phone "longer" according to some people, you have to go for iphone 12 which is logical but with all its problems, I'd avoid it. I would concentrate more on an older model or a little more recent such as the 13.

but there are some downsides
like the fact you won't get an oled, or no 5g.
but if you made of money
then go either for a 11 pro/max
or the 12 if you really need 5g

Or older galaxy s with decent megapixel count
