I have the Moto G xt1039 which is beyond repair, I made backup of stock ROM using TWRP recovery on my PC, if I was to buy the same Moto G and root it, will it be safe to flash the old Stock ROM into the new phone?

i bought a g4 but it was so unstable i returned it within 2 weeks for an upgrade of the same phone which came with the same issues. they sell the g4 cheap. why? i believe the model is defective by design. the g4 was a terrible first experience with a smartphone. i had such high hopes.
i've been thinking of getting an iphone 5s except i don't need a smartphone at all.

Sparky, 22 May 2016Moto G 4G first gen phone. Worked great for 18months then s... moreHi Sparky, this happened to me too. I was at a loss to understand why, then I realised the phone was overheating and seemed to be using up all its capacity and a huge amount of background data. Eventually I realised that Exchange Services (which I was using for email) was the problem app behind this; moving my email to a different app and no longer using Exchange Services solved the problem. Perhaps something similar is happening with one of your apps - check your background data usage to see if that shows anything?

Hope this helps if you haven't already managed to solve the issue.

Then we found out that Apps were updating whenever they want. You need to go into each app and tell it you do not want auto updates. It will now have to ask you if you want to update, other then that phone sucks!

Moto G 4G first gen phone. Worked great for 18months then started to switch itself off despite battery still >50%, bluetooth intermittent. Eventually seemed to die completely. Tried all reset, forcing power on etc. No joy (except once gave message "failure to initialise partition table"). Took it to Mobile Store for diagnosis (princely sum of £5). Answer came back....dead, main board chips blown due to overheating. Took it home ready to ditch but one last try...did a fast boot, factory reset.....worked! So much for Mobile Store diagnosis. All seemed fine again .... except microphone not working. Internet research, bought phone tool kit (£6), opened up, took out battery and main board....rattle rattle... lower microphone fell out. Reckon maybe Mobile Store engineer knocked it off (case had been scratched too). Found out where and which way round it went but main board pads did not connect (too low) so blob of solder on each main board pad, bluetack to hold, back together...hey presto...a fully working phone again. Been working for a week now. Fingers crossed. Very pleased with phone...has all functions I need, is good size and weight.
