Bought it on early 2018, and it's been 7 years now and still alive, though, the performance are really bad nowadays even running on custom ROM already (RevengeOS, Android 9), but still better than MIUI (read: Meme UI) that stuck on Android 7.
Using GCam 5.1, the shot quality are quite good in my opinion and get worse on low light condition. But it's really slow so you have to wait a few seconds to capture a single shot. For video recording, you better not record a longer than 2 minutes otherwise you might experience inconsistent fps.
Battery life is enough for 1 day use, I got like close to 5 hours screen on time with no gaming. The reason on why this phone is still alive until now because how easy it to replace the battery even by yourself with the right tools. So you just need to buy the battery for $7 and replace it by yourself. Mine got replaced 3 times. Yeah, about once per couple years.
Also this phone has community that is still active until now, at least here in Indonesia.
And you might be wondering why don't you just throw away this phone and just buy a new one? Well there's a lot of reason and the main reason is there's a little choice to compact smartphone these days, especially a budget one. The closest to what I wanted is Pixel 5, but battery replacement seems not as easy as this phone at least for me (for future proofing) and most in the market is used phone.

In my Redmi 4 sometimes the call does not come.Strange thing is when the same person calls, the call comes through sometimes, and sometimes it does not ring at all (this happened within a few minutes. so thers no question about network overage.) And sometimes the phone rings but theres no sound. (the volume was full!)
When i put the SIM in other phones and used for some days this problen was not there.
I tried restarting the redmi 4 phone
i tried factory reset
I went to Phone settings & cleared cache
Im so frustrated. I dont know what to do.
Can someone help me PLEASE.

Working fine. Memory managment is decent that phone. Phone gets hot if you play games for a long time.

I have a problem with the power on button/switch. It is worn out. I really struggle to switch it on. Original battery got used up and replacement battery drains fast. The flash light is a battery draining feature in this phone.
