xxx, 18 Nov 2023Typing this entry on a P2. I have it in use since 2017, not... moreDo so. But I'd advise against trying A12 and A13. While fairly stable, there are still many issues if you want a flawless experience.

Typing this entry on a P2. I have it in use since 2017, not 24/7 most of time, but still. They don't make phones like this anymore, that's for sure.
I might try Lineage on it, since other readers in this thread confirm it works smoothly on this model.

I just got myself a rog phone and I'm sitting here wondering why it can't do things my phone from almost 7 years ago could do...

It was the first phone produced by Lenovo after absorbing Motorola technology. And Motorola used to be very good in making phones. Check the specs of the Moto X in these days and you will be amazed by the advanced technology. I have a P2 and still using it when I travel.

Bypassing the requirements for A12 and A3 comes at a cost. Permissive instead of enforcing Selinux is one of several disadvantages. You cannot monitor network as another example.

The beast of a battery is still good despite 5+ years (bought it in May 2017). Obviously, it requires more frequent charges than 5 years ago. They don't make any more such bloatware-free smartphones with hefty batteries. I hope Motorola brings out such sets.

The processor is outdated. Because the 3.18 kernel can't be updated to 4.9 custom roms the phone is finally - after 6 (!) years - at the end of its life.

My mother is still using this. I recently checked it how fast it is, how smooth it is and I am a little shocked. It is great. She is playing Microsoft solitaire at least an hour a day and Facebook and Instagram at least 2 hours a day and the battery still lasts 2 days. Her phone is lucky I guess.
