Microsoft prepping a Paint overhaul, now with 3D drawing
Microsoft has been working on a major redesign of the Paint app for a while now, as evidenced by screenshots that made it to the public in May. The development is in its final stages now, apparently, judging by a couple of promo videos that Twitter user WalkingCat has gotten their hands on.

One of them shows us the new interface of the app (to be called Paint Preview), but also introduces us to the headline new feature - 3D drawing. Conceived with stylus input in mind (the Surface Pen gets a lead role in the video), the app will let you create and manipulate 3D objects, though you could presumably keep using it for meme-making purposes and pixel art.
If you are intrigued by its 3D prowess, though, the second video is sort of a tutorial on basic 3D editing.

There's no official time frame for the release of Paint Preview. However, the app may very well be the software icing on the hardware to be announced at Microsoft's October 26 event.
