TestMonkey, 12 Sep 2020As an update to my original post I was able to discover mor... moreone thing i know about this phone (plum 6) is that under security settings privacy protection is not working and not supported with password

As an update to my original post I was able to discover more details that might help others.

      Mounting via USB on Linux:
The trick to mounting these phones on Linux is to change the DisableSwitching=0 in /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf to DisableSwitching=1. There was no need to comment out anything in the /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules file. Mounting is useful for uploading files to the SDcard without having to remove it from the phone.

      Backup/Importing phonebook:
You can backup your contacts/phonebook from phone (not SIM) to SDcard as vcard.vcf and restore it after you edit it on a computer. I had to change the format in editing from my old Verizon flip phone. You have to use the copy feature to get the contacts from the phone to the SIM card (one-at-a-time). Note that every time you restore the contacts to the phone you get another copy of each contact. The RAM 6 has no way to delete all the contacts at once other than a factory reset or delete then one contact at a time.

Migrating RAM 6 phonebook to RAM 8:
I had to install the RAM 8 SIM into the RAM 6 to copy contacts quickly one-at-a-time from phone to SIM1 or SIM2. There is no way to restore backup to SIM directly. Then move the target SIM card to the RAM 8. See my next review on the Plum RAM 8 for details on that phone.

This is a simple but rugged phone that I use as talk-only (prepaid $5 per month) for emergencies and testing with USMobile.

        Cons: No volume control.
USMobile's GSM SIM would only work in slot #2.
        Plum headset/earbuds adds static.

Pros: Connects to computer via USB with MTP protocol (on Linux install simple-mtpfs).
Works with USMobile prepay on T-Mobile's GSM network.
        Priced under $40 brand new!
        Sounds great with Plantronics headset.

        MTP Details:
I had to comment out the device in udev rules to get RAM6 to connect:
        # grep 0e8d /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules
        #ATTR{idVendor}=="0e8d", ATTR{idProduct}=="0002", RUN+="usb_modeswitch '/%k'"

13 MP camera...on a phone with 128 MEGABYTES of storage... Let's just say you won't be taking a lot of 13 MP photos unless you have a microSD card.
