First SD 8 Gen 4 phones, vivo X100s leak, HMD Pulse trio official, Week 17 in review

Ivan, 28 April 2024

Welcome to your week's recap. Xiaomi has dibs on the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phone, followed by OnePlus and iQOO. So when the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 launches in October, expect the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro to be the first phones with the chip, followed by the OnePlus 13, and the iQOO 13.

We brought you an exclusive first look at the upcoming vivo X100s. The phone is slim and sleek at 7.89mm, has a flat display and flat sides, and comes with a Titanium option in May.

HMD's Pulse trio is here. All three new phones fall in the €100-€200 price range, prioritizing sustainability. HMD says the Pulse range is built to “Gen 1 repairability” and you can pick up self-repair kits from iFixit. Repairs include changing the battery but also swapping the screen.

All three use the same chipset – the Unisoc T606. The Pulse sells for €140/£100 and has a 6.65” LCD, a 720p+, a 13MP main camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Pulse+ bumps the price up to €160/£130, has the same screen, battery, and processor, but brings a 50MP main camera. The Pulse Pro isn’t much more expensive at €180, has the same 50MP camera, display, and chipset, but it packs a 50MP selfie camera.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4??? Wasn't it 8 Gen 3s? Isn't that official?

Don't you know? That's more important than being able to zoom into your pictures and not see a bastardization of reality.
