Two Black Shark 5 models appear on TENAA

Yordan, 15 February 2022

The Black Shark 5 series is expected to arrive soon - traditionally Xiaomi launched its first gaming phones of the year in March. Two devices, reportedly the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro, popped up on TENAA, revealing key specs and details.

The most important change will be a new chip for the Pro variant, as well as a better main camera.

The Black Shark 5 Pro has a model number KTUS-A0 and while TENAA does not reveal the actual chipset, the 3.0GHz CPU is likely from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. RAM is listed as 8/12/16 GB, while storage is 256GB or 512GB.

We expect a 108MP main camera, while the front-facing cam has a 13MP, which notably is lower than the Black Shark 4's 20MP camera. The battery has 4,650mAh capacity and we expect it to keep the 120W fast charging from the predecessors.

The Black Shark 5 is listed with a 3.2 GHz CPU, which is very likely the year-old Snapdragon 870 chipset. It comes with a 64MP main camera and 8GB or 12GB RAM.

Storage is again 128GB or 256GB and the battery capacity (4,650mAh) is also shared between the upcoming phones.

The phones are yet to be launched, and during the event, we hope to learn just how much Tencent is involved with the gaming brand after the acquisition in January.

They could be grown up by realizing the Gen 8 is an overheating nightmare they want no part of.....But, why they don't use the 888+ in that case is confusing....

Really?! Isn't so last year Snapdragon 870 looks like a hidden scandal? Just glow up already and use the real Snapdragon 8 GEN 1 chipset in the next blackshark models. Just stick to 1440p, 7.1" display and 5000mah battery with 165watt charg...

Then we get scammed in KSA lol
