In the case of iPhone 5s and 6, I think Apple is more concerned about future compatibility, rather than leveraging purely on 64 bit performance boost. That being said, they did bring up the performance anyway.
Anyway, tech landscape is looking exciting, next 2-3 years will be awesome.

Although it's highly unlikely they are capacitive keys, manufacturer's would be smart to add them at the bottom, off screen and disable the software touch keys within android... doing so would provide a user the opportunity to utilize the wasted space of the bottom border, which serves no functional purpose to the end user.
It would be the equivalent of a TV manufacturer not cutting off your 1080p or 4K TV screen, as you lose a decent amount of your screen on even TV's with a 1/2" border... quite irritating to say the least.
