AnonD-324650, 27 Oct 2014I finally got through and the expected shipping time is 4-5... moreThe 4-5 weeks wait period is a generic figure they seem to be quoting in the emails.

Goto your oneplus account and lookup your (pre)order and it will say it should ship within a week.

I guess they are just giving a worst case estimate so you think they are early when they actually ship a week or more later?

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2014It is nonsense. It is already outdated phone. Let's see wha... moreNo it's not "non-sense". Do not confuse what may (or may not) be a "flagship killer" with the original counter-point, which was the argument an Android phone could not survive for more than a year or two without losing it's performance.

That's just plain bogus, I've even given a very solid (and real life) example of how that's not true.

AnonD-324666, 27 Oct 2014 No matter which smartphone you are using - Oneplus One,... moreAll that I can say about your comment is that you haven't owned one of the new Blackberry phones with BOS 10.x because if you had one you wouldn't have made the comment you did.

The Z10 that I have has not slowed down at all after 1-1/2 years of use (bought it in March 2013).

Actually, since BOS 10.2 came out it's actually faster than it was when I bought it.

I can't get to the site, LG G3 used cost almost about that same price and had better specs and design.

Seriously, who cares? If a company has to resort to gimmicks like this fake "exclusivity" nonsense as their marketing strategy, then they aren't worth your time.

how many would buy their phones if Opo were to ask for a bj.

AnonD-259899, 27 Oct 2014Nope you are seriously misguided and ill-informed. Oneplus ... moreI don't believe that Android (itself) will become "too heavy" for this OPO any time soon. It's way more likely Android shifts to 64bit-only before the SoC performance becomes the limiting factor.

(Let me add that I don't believe Android will become 64bit-only anytime soon either!)

Their overloaded site doesn't really surprise.

After the first 30 minutes, what they should have done is displayed a simple static HTML page saying to pre-order this phone, send an e-mail to a certain address. Then any e-mails they received during the next 30 minutes would get an invite code e-mailed as a reply.

Had they done this, it would have allowed these users to go through the order at a later stage when the server quietened down, rather than the current situation of everyone hammering the refresh key hoping to get in, keeping the server severely overloaded and wasting time on everyone trying to pre-order.

Oneplus One will have years of support because of Cyanogenmod. It just so happens it also has super high end specs for a steal price.

2-3 years of support easy. It might be that android gets too heavy for the phone than any lack of support that will force people to let go of their Oneplus Ones in 2-3 years time. However with massive focus on optimization on google's part such a situation seems very unlikely, which all means even more shell life for this phone.

                                      GPU performance is nowhere near!
Despite the age, build quality is also way off (mainly build materials).

I'm not even going to enter into the camera performance.

Top tip: go discover Cyanogenmod... that's how flagships are able to retain performance even after 2 years.

Pretty lame, it seems they have not learnt that nobody cares for invite systems. In Malaysia I bought this thing easy beasy by placing an order online with normal vendors. Dead cheap too.
