AnonD-41413, 07 Nov 2014743ppi!!! RIP Battery life!Yep, same idiocy like the thin-mania. Manufacturers keep ignoring the important technological details - battery, heating, speakers, camera (And again heating when used), sd slots (Including Samsung with their nevest fashionphones)

R.I.P. Gaming performance. Can you imagine how horrible the gaming performance would be on a 4K mobile device?

It's probably just a fanboy fantasy. To push those many pixels, you would need a really really potent GPU.

Right now Adreno 420 gives 11.2fps for onscreen Manhattan test @1440p.

At 2160p, it will give around 5.4fps.

By that time Adreno 430 will be available, which is said to be 30% faster.

So it will yield ~7fps. Much much below what a flagship should deliver.

So I don't expect to see 4k display until Note 6 (a respectable GPU should be available by then), not that there is really any need for it. Hell, 4k is a novelty even in desktops.

I'm for one very pleased to see this piece of news.
An irrelevant spec upgrade such as this would mean that 1080p resolution phones would be considered mid or value phones thus keeping their prices low.
I'll take that instead, fully comprehending that even 2K is a totally unnecessary feature.

Race to the moon with specs war. No rationality at all.

AnonD-41413, 07 Nov 2014743ppi!!! RIP Battery life!Well if they make a good power saving gpu to it than no problem. More pixels only use more juice because of the more gpu usage. If its aj amoled screen, then it won't use much battery. But even DESKTOP gpus can't run 4K smoothly (at least not the low end and some midrange ones), so I'm not sure what gpu they would put in this unnecessary pile of pixels.

QHD for me is the limit for displays in smartphones.

For tablets however... if the display and battery is big enough, I don't see how they can't pull it off.
