Apple to launch new 4" iPhone next year

04 December, 2014
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are top sellers, but some prefer to use a compact phone with just one hand.

Majority ladies users will purchase Galaxy S3/4/5, Note2/3/4 or iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. They don't mind about the size as they can store away the phone in their hand/sling bag.

I don't have any problem using my nexus 5 with one hand so why would apple feel the need for a 4inch phone?

Although I'm an Android user, I'd been hoping for some time that Apple would bring out an iPhone Pro - a large iPhone with a physical keyboard, in the mould of the Nokia E7, N97 or the Communicators. It's a format that I liked a lot and has all but died. If Apple resurrected it, it would gain traction again and no doubt there would be a Samsung copy.

I guess Apple is scrapping the Plus and bringing a "mini" variant of the iPhone.

My thoughts: Apple did a great thing by releasing bigger versions of the iPhone this year, but I think they picked the sizes wrong. The normal iPhone should have been their traditional 4" and the Plus around 4.7". They practically alienated at least half their demographic (women, children and anyone else with smaller hands) by making the regular iPhone that big.
They will probably rectify that, if they make the "Mini" version with the same specs as its bigger siblings. If on the other hand, Apple opts for a dumbed down version, like the 5c was, they might not win back all their clients.
Still, I think it's a good idea on their part. I'm just curious to see how they will defend against the "you copied Samsung" criticism.
