Why is Microsoft repeating Nokia mistakes? Making the same device again and again with the same underpowered internals and selling it as top level, as it did with its ARM11 processors. That simply doesn't make sense.

twintel, 29 Dec 2014Even more strange is why Windows Phone never use Intel proc... more ARM is a simple architecture designed for processors which uses minimum energy. ARM has been in the mobile OS and processor business for over a decade while Intel has been dominating the PC scene, it is relatively a newcomer in mobile processor business and OS. Intel uses the x86 architecture for its smartphone processor which are based on their PC processors, complex and focused to deliver performance. As a result, Android apps work perfectly fine on ARM architecture based processors but many apps don't work in Intel processors powered smartphones because currently the apps don't support x86 architecture. More and more developers are now making their applications compatible with Intel processors powered phones. Windows Phone, not Windows Mobile, ever since it was brought to the market, has been using Snapdragon processors which are also uses ARM's instructions sets. If Microsoft wants to use Intel processors which are entirely based on x86 architecture, they have to code the operating system from scratch and developers will also need to code their apps to support the Intel processors powered Windows Phones, so it is a pain for both Microsoft and Windows Phone app developers.

Looks like a good offering in terms of specs. I am more interested in the successor to Lumia 1020, hoping it comes with a Xenon flash and retains the 41 MP sensor for the pureview magic.

I am quite satisfied with the specs speculated here. If it launches by March 2015 at a decent price, I will go for it.

                Great Specs.
                14mp Pureview OIS, 32gb Internal, 5.7" and 5mp Selfie!

This is a highly wanted specs, only downside is 1Gb ram.
1Gb Ram is super speedy for a Windows Phone 8.1. but considering low end also enjoying 1gb ram, i would say 1.5gb - 2gb ram is more appropriate to pair with the awesome specs.

#2gb ram to make it a complete Mid Range Windows Phone @ around USD275.

Intel is close with Microsoft on Desktop PC. Why no in smartphone. Instead Android have x86 smartphone using Intel.

Like wise, smartphone technology has to develop to support HD resolution at low cost first, then FHD, then QHD. FHD in mid range smartphones will automatically happen in 2016.

The kid (or read technology) has not yet grown up to run (support FHD at mid-range budget). Allow it some time to mature. That's all.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2014Because any higher resolution is pointless for a phone. Why is it that you visually impaired people always want others to come down to your level? Does mute people tell us to shut up because noone need to talk? Does people in wheelchair ask others to cut off their legs because noone need them? see, its only you farsighted and impaired people who want others to use your level, and for the farsighted theres not even an excuse since reading glasses is all you need to have normal vision at short range.

1280x720 looks pathetic even on 4.3 inch displays, on a phablet like this it barely useable, even at a low price. Unfortunately Qualcomm is forcing the issue by using underpowered GPU in all newer midrange chipsets, Xperia SP was the last midranger with a decent GPU, 2014 has been a great downgrade for midrange. Hope MediaTek will successfully fill this gaping black hole in Qualcomms lineup so 1080p can finally come to midrange and people with good eyes will no longer be forced to buy high end phones.

I expect this M. Lumia 1330 to be priced competively at RM999 or about $275.
