Since he says “I think its going to be a phone catering to a different type of audience. Perhaps for those who appreciate design over specs,” that makes me think of the rumor of the OnePlus Mini going around last week.

I purchased my one plus one on their first pre-sale and I am so happy that I was able to purchase this phone. This phone is the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The only complaints I have with this phone is the camera is not the greatest in lower light situations. It's not bad but it could be better compared to the other phones that launched this year. My other complaint would be the screen is not as pretty as the screens on the Samsung note or galaxy line. This is kind of a trival complaint because the screen is nice but compared to Sammy's screen it's not as nice. If one plus can match the screen to Samsung one one plus two version they will have a homerun.

i bought this device and its is "awesomeness". Yes...it proved a little difficult to get, but not a huge problem as it approached xmas. The price was the key motivating factor for me and I was even more satisfied that it performed well after buying it. Sure, there are a couple of minor issues like any phone you buy...but overall, its super slick to use and a powerhouse battery to boot. I am looking forward to the oneplus two phone coming out later this year.

Looks like a great phone. Great features for the price. Means nothing to me since I can't get one. I'm not 18 to have to go beg for an "invite". I have no time to go drooling in forums. I will end up paying full price for an unlocked phone so I can actually work, use it, etc...
If I was younger, less responsibilities, time to burn, I guess I would have the time to find an invite.

The phone is still best buy if you consider specs/price ratio (and you don't mind its size). And the invites only policy was an issue only in june-september. After that, in half a day you could find an invite for free. The ones who had the phone were bombarded with invites to share with friends. If in august, when i got mine, you should wait and beg for an invite for a week or more (and maybe even purchase it for a small amount of money if you want to get it sooner), in November-december, you could find a invitation in 1 hour after you signed in on their site and start looking in forums. Even more, if you live in an European country where the phone is not shipped, you can buy it from Germany/England/Italy etc and have it shipped to a mailbox and from there shipped to your country for 18 euro shipping fee. the whole process took about 11 days. So everyone who was really interested could have one (not talking about Asian markets, just European ones). It's a very well builded phone and it performs very well. I chosed it because as a HTC fan I was dissapointed by the camera of M7 and M8. Plus HTC ONE was almost double the price for lesser specs. The battery is great and it last easily more than a day.
But, if they want to grow, it will have to drop their invite only policy but i'm afraid that will lead to a increase in their price which was the main attraction .

Am not sure why anyone is upset at an Android OEM who is sustainable and not making huge losses. When you have orders, you make them. If you don't, that's ok. It will free them up to design and make the next handset.

This tactic has been used in lots of places before (google used to even use it)
had a good play with one, the handset is great can wait to get my own one,

If you all so tech savvy then you would understand oneplus is new company and limited ways to produce their phone if they make pre order it would take 6 months to catch up cause millions would be ordered then everyone would complain for long wait.

Conisdering "no-one" is able to buy the phone and the invitation system is "stupid and a poor business model", OnePlus seem to have done quite well..
Own one myself. Thought the size would be an issue but i recently held my old LG G2 and it feels too small by comparison.
The phone is brilliant and fingers crossed the "Two" will follow in the footsteps of the One i.e. low price, bumper specs.

Well, Samsung produced more Galaxy Note Edge phones in 2 months than OnePlus. I won't buy a phone that is so exclusive to take my money.
