Its called carphone warehouse because when the company was first set up- "mobile phones" were called "carphones" remember the big bulky bricks that at the time only business men wanted so they could communicate while driving between there destinations? yeah those. Car Phones, phones made to be used in the car. SO yeah Carphone Warehouse. Makes sense no?

The founder used to sell telephones from the back of his van - like a car boot sale - so naturally came up with the name. A recognisable name now no doubt.
