New Galaxy S5 Lollipop update brings back silent mode

23 February, 2015
The feature is missing in Google's interpretation of Lollipop, but Samsung brought it back.

They've not removed the interruptions mode. It is still there for those that want it (I do thanks). They've fixed a bug in the previous release where it was available but you couldn't schedule it making pretty useless. Now it is workable for those that want it.

I have both Samsung and HTC devices but I've faced more bugs and lag on the Samsung. I think it's because they have too many features to keep track of .

What about the mm-gcamera-daemon problem which is still haunting the S5 owners, even after the promised update to lollipop?!? Not even Samsung can get this fixed eh?...

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2015htc has buggy softwarePlease explain what You mean by buggy htc software. Having used phones by both htc and samsung (M7 and Note II in the past and currently M8 and Note 4) I would like to argue that. My Htc phones (M7 and M8) have always had a buttery smooth and responsive OS experience. The note series phones are no slouches and are neck to neck on synthetic benchmarks, but for some reason they have never been able to match the responsiveness of htc. It initially thought that I happened to get some "bad" copies of the sammies, as forums and reviews praise the benchmark results of the phone. My N4 makes a pause every now and then during opening recent apps or slightly lags when I go back to the home screen using the home button and then quickly opening an app or scrolling. The "stiffness" is just there and nothing seems to fully fix it - even turning off all animations in the dev options or using other launchers.
I am not saying that TouchWiz is buggy or unbearably slow - at work I still prefer the note 4 because of the larger screen and handy pen feature but default to the M8 when driving around the city or when having to do a lot of calls. I feel my Note 4 is very similar in its soul to my grandmother - big, warmhearted, slightly arthritic, but will get the job done. Just don't expect her to come and play football with You.

For the reasons mentioned I personally have high hopes for the N4 lollipop update, which has not jet arrived OTA in Estonia. Hope it brings the snappiness to my note experience which this great piece of hardware deserves. I'll wait and see :) Meanwhile however I will continue to enjoy my bugless M8 experience and look forward to try the M9.

AnonD-349892, 23 Feb 2015Why the hell Google even thought to replace silent mode. The same reason they put in that stupid all white stuff (which is a PITA on amoled equipped devices). Stupidity, incompetence, boredom... you name it.

This is helpful for people who resist to be dumb.
