Switzerland. Land of many premium watch makers.
They got scared of the arrival of Apple Watch. They try to delay it, so they can come up with cheap android watches to combat.

source link didn't provide much extra detail compared to the news summary here, but wouldn't it have been a trademark and not a patent?
i can't imagine a patent office granting a innovation / invention patent for putting an 'apple' image on a watch, or naming a watch an 'apple' device. i can definitely see those things being granted under copyright & trademark though.
most famous case of this kind of thing being 'apple records', the record label of the beatles.

I didnt spell "doom" on the product as you say it, I only said it is unlikely to be a "profound success". Having said that I also mentioned that no matter what happens there will be the fruitfan horde to buy a large amount of this product, as is evident if you see the logic in the video link I have mentioned with the comment.

There's probably a law in Switzerland banning low quality Chinese made watches.

After watching a few hands-on tutorial videos it seems like the crown is going to be the key feature to define how a smartwatch can be made useful. The force touch seems a bit limited and too similar to a "short" longpress so for me i put my money on the crown. I have tried some other smartwatches, i kindof liked the Sony SM2 when it came out but compared to Apples watch its just cumbersome. Sorry to say i think spelling doom on this this one is just stupidity that will soon prove you wrong. Your words are very much in line with current trends on this site, maybe youre a kid trying to be popular by saying the right things around here, you dont even wanna wait for it and try it before judging it. For me preorder is not gonna happen but surely will test it out when it hit the stores.
Just try it first, then at least your negative attitude will have valid reasons that you can share with us, or are you afraid you will love it?

Regardless of the hype that "digital crown" will be a serious impediment in normal interaction with the ui. Keeping aside the pitfalls of smartwatches in general, this fruit product is unlikely to have a profound success. Nevertheless there are always the fruitfans ready to grab on to a new product even with a blindfold. Reminds me of a funny video from a longtime back when the concept of the product was floating around...
