there has been companies like that since there have been opens source operating systems. For example NVidia is still reluctant to give info about their latest GPU designs to open source developers.

I won't say it sounds promising cause we know so little about it right now. But at least now I know that A72 is build around performance and not efficiency quite like the A57.

The MT8735 is most likely the same chip as the MT6735, a new entry-level SoC for smartphones. Previously, MediaTek has sold the same chip for both tablets and smartphones but with different version numbers (e.g. MT8382 vs MT6582, MT8312 vs MT6572). All these chip have an integrated cellular modem (3G/4G).
MT8163 however is a Wi-Fi-only SoC, it does not have an integrated modem, so is mainly suitable for tablets. Other MediaTek SoCs for tablets without 3G/4G include the MT8127 and the recently announced MT8173 with Cortex-A72 cores.

They should try the new A72 cores. A53 with A72 would be a nice choice if they can keep the die size close to 20nm.

MT8735 this is for performance. u get simcard slot so u can use 4G LTE in this tablet also u can direct play dtv using this tablet.

It would seem that the MT8735 is just a rebadged MT6735.

what's the point of having a separate chipset for tablet? and they're boasting it can run 1080 displays? mediatek has already chipsets that are capable of running 1080 displays for phones and tablets... I just don't get this...

1st comment, hope mediatek will be fine with there chips, but i read that Samsung will buy amd, maybe there will be a good duel, =)
