Every company should make this for all of their products which have screen.
Apple understand it. The logo or name etc. in front is distraction. Your eyes shouldn't see anything else than the screen.

If you're asking why then it's simple. Samsung is a korean product and the japanese look at korean products as inferior and a competitor to them. So as not to inflame japanese pride and potentially lose sales Samsung removed their logos.
Much the same reason why western game devs have a hard time selling games and consoles in Japan compared to japanese titles and hardware.

A unique logo really matters. e.g. if one is holding Note 3 and the other person has Note 3 Neo then from a distance you cannot differentiate between these two products. So one person spending more money on a premium product though enjoy good features but not a unique position. One of the main reasons of success of Apple is it always sells a unique brand name sometimes in the form of logo and sometimes it is some catching phrase.

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2015Tell that to HTC...agreed, hTc should stop wasting their beautiful screen size with plain, no use logo. or implement it with useful home button or fingerprint scanner.

Apple so far has been the only mainstream brand not to feature a logo on the front.
It makes sense when your phone is a stand-out device.

It's actually a turn off for me to see that huge SAMSUNG logo in capital letters! One of the reason I don't buy their product...
