Are you privy to some information the rest of us aren't? Or are you the biased ones who like to stick your head in the sand because you don't like what you see?

All big Chinese manufacturers are members of Open Handset Alliance so I'm sure they can get a working solution without using Google services.

For example, in their own app-markets Huawei and Lenovo have the name and picture of the employee that has checked that the application is free from virus and malware. So it's probably safer than some random app from the normal Google Play! (where absolutely no one is responsible for anything). I'm sure there are crap markets too but I don't bother with them.

Of course HK people use Google Play and Google services, it's preinstalled on their phones which the Chinese app markets aren't. Also in HK it's status to have things that isn't from the mainland reglardless if the product is crap or great.

Anyways case in point; Android blows without Google (and I'm sure Google designed it this way as they need to be able to monetize off of it somehow). Even if you go to to HK you will see everyone there uses all the standard Google services/apps and nobody uses the crappy apps (and app-stores) from the mainland.

DaXiong, 30 Apr 2015And what you don't realize is that none of those apps shipp... moreActually I know Chinese phones never shipped with Google Services installed. The difference between 9 years ago and now is when I first came to China is Google still had operations in China and although not preinstalled, you could install Google Services and they would work (including search!).

Now, Google has closed it's operations here and the government has since really made a good effort to block all things Google.

Most Chinese hare oblivious to this anyways as mostly use Chinese apps and Chinese app-stores which are also highly ridden with mal-ware. Not to mention most are just crap and coded poorly, eat up battery life, only available in Chinese language, and only support in-China services (oh did I say mal-ware?). Take Baidu Maps for example, it's a ok mapping app until you go travelling outside of China in which nowhere outside of China is mapped. Baidu search is the same; it only searches websites in China which makes for pretty terrible/useless search results for international folks.

There are tons of poor people that don't care and can't afford Apple phones in China.

Just got a Redmi 2 as backup phone. Like it for its 4.7" size. Nice looker, too. Don't need flagship specs - overkill for normal day to day usage. Apple to be No 1 in China? Dream on. People who buy iPhone or Samsung either have Rich Dads or just got bird brains. Wasting money because of dumb brand consciousness.

I dont know wether or not this "news" is true but something tells me it could be as Apple is the first foreign company to sign an agreement to the rules of "Cyberspace Admin of China". Apple is helping the chinese government with its "surveillance apparatus" to spy on it's citizens. They handed over the source codes and encryption keys to the chinese government. Also Apple now use China Telecom datacenters, to store all chinese iPhone/iPad data within China. Many chinese citizens dont know this. iOS devices are not safe at all as Apple proclaim. Google, MS, Yahoo, FB etc. are just the same.
