Android in April: almost 10% of all devices boot Lollipop

04 May, 2015
Unsurprisingly, the share of Android 5.0 and up has grown considerably over the past month.

I can't believe LG gave Lollipop to L90 BEFORE G2 MINI in all its versions, i'm really sad and disappointed, if at least in two months i don't receive an OTA notification of Lollipop Upgrade, i'll be moving to IPhone 6S.

Thell amazed that they decided to give my 'Mid to Low' end of line smartphone the 5.0 Lollipop upgrade. I'm a sometimes proud owner of the LG OPTIMUS L90 on the T-Mobile network. The phone actually is a lot better than what I thought it was going to be when I bought it and the T Mobile network, at least in my area, is probably the best network out of them all. I have a better signal and faster internet connection than my girlfriends Sprint phone as well as a faster internet connection and better reception than my bosses Verizon phone. I've had the Lollipop update for 2 days now. I had to do it on the computer because it was taking forever for the OTA download to come through. Ive spent a decent amount of time going through and checking out what's all new with it and I don't really see anything special that stands out and makes me super excited to have the update. The biggest thing I've noticed, and Im not even sure if it has anything to do thing to do with the Android update, is that when I use my GPS "Google Maps" my location stays on and doesn't constantly lose a gps signal every 90 seconds like it had been for the last few months. I took a 45 minute trip yesterday for work and out of the whole ride I may be lost GPS signal for a minute or less so it's a drastic improvement from what it was doing

Anonymous, 05 May 2015This is big problem not just for Google but for customers! ... moreFortunately Sony has take the right steps of supporting AOSP. Unfortunately it hasn't exactly known how to capitalize on that, since they are pretty much always the very latest version of Android available but discourage everyone with labels such as "unofficial", warranty void and restrictions that don't make much sense.

DaGWaR, 05 May 2015Why everyone saying google dont care. Blame the brand u tru... moreMaybe because that brand in order to sell a phone with Android that has the Google Apps has to sign a contract with Google to be "Android Certified".

It's all up to Google to, on top of some of their crappy apps, mandate the manufacturers to provide updates. -- But then again, that doesn't give them money, big data from their crappy apps does.

Anonymous, 05 May 2015yeah... my friends zenfone 6 still using JB ~ dont get any updateAt least JB has fantastic looks compared to that ugly flat Lolipop UI. Futuristic black and blue. I loved it. Not like that pale sissy look from iOS7 or Lolipop. Yuk!
Don't call it "Android" if you go for sissy pastel colours and flat blobs with non-descriptive play-station icons. It reminds me of some pimply teenager from American Pie whenever I see Lolipop. It's a shame because a lot of the new Android devices (and some o/t old) really look cool. Sony makes very beautiful devices, the HTC One's look great (all of them IMHO) and so does the Samsung Alpha/S6-twins and even Note 4.

Also Apple makes beautiful devices from the iPhone 4 upto the iP6 (though I still think that IP4/s looks the coolest of them especially the black version).

It's a real pity that the cool design of today's phones isn't reflected in their UI's.

AnonD-315435, 05 May 2015This is because google don't care its users like Microsoft.... morewell how is it Google's fault that HTC want to put on Sense, or Samsung want to put on TW etc Microsoft's WP updates come out quickly because OEMs have very little to do, which also explains why most WP phones have similar UI. Android allows the OEM to customize it the way they want which is why it takes longer. So don't blame Google, they can't do anything about it

I am among those 5.7% using Gingerbread on my Samsung galaxy y . Samsung doesn't has a update policy for sub $200 devices . Even now they don't give timely updates for their mid range and low range devices . So bad behaviour from Samsung .

This is because google don't care its users like Microsoft.

Microsoft even give updates to all OEM and it's takes responsibility for securities, while google and apple don't care security of it's loyal customers.
