AnonD-70006, 23 May 2015Your fault if you don't check any storage device that you'r... moreWell, go ahead and find your credential information in that user accessible storage of yours. I bet you won't find anything. Because you can't check your storage media for credential information. I don't think that Google is stupid enough to put credential information in user accessible storage.

But those who want to buy that new phones usually sells their old phones which usually, surprise, has 4.1 to .4.3 installed (and never had the chance to upgrade not even once from it's preinstalled version).

Software won't cut it, you'll have to physically remove the disk from inside the drive and analyze the magnetic field with very specialized tools. If you think the cost of the tools alone is expensive, just wait for the cost of the specialized personal that needs to analyze the data sector-by-sector in what can only be one of the most tedious tasks known for man -- and *without* guaranteed results!

I am surprised that they (the recovery makers/manufacturers) aren't using the "secure erase" command like they should with any flash-based memory.

However, the researches should have posted results with 4.4 and the latter 5.x.
From experience, usually when a researcher omits the later versions that are available for more than 1 year (2 years even!), it means the point they are trying to make no longer applies.

          So there's that.

Come on! anyone with half a freaking brain (and the right software) can restore deleted data from any form of harddrive! how do you think the cops do it to catch paedophiles or other dodgy buggers who think that formatting the drive can erase the evidence?

all it needs is a clever bugger and the right software.

so stop moaning about it, buncha pansies
