Google is making a mistake here. 2 years were appropriate when the smartphone industry was still moving fast. But now it's getting slower, smartphones don't get obsolete that fast anymore.

What only two years!? The best example of this is the galaxy nexus, the hardware on the galaxy nexus is still capable of running lollipop with no hitch at all but google did not update it to lollipop. In contrast apple is still supporting iphone4s which im sure will lag with ios9 but they still update the aging hardware

Right now, only those with pre-ICS devices may have reason to complaint... but those are devices (in terms you can understand) at the iPhone 4 level.

Android M. Probably API level 23-24.
Yet after 22+ iteration of API, creating Android app is not becoming any easier.
You have to deal with strangeness of Java object, ugliness of Android API, and finally, fight against the IDE itself, as both Eclipse and Android Studio both gives the same headache.

It's an old phone, of course it won't be like a new phone. But does that mean it has to be unsafe to use? Do remember the massive amount of personal data a smartphone carries!

Enjoy being hacked and leaking huge amounts of information through unpatched security holes.

what with products barely lasting 2=3 years for a company to say that they will offer support should be mandatory but as we know tech manages to move so fast in 2_3 years oct/core will be very (last year)!
