It would be nice if a small (~4") windows smartphone with a camera >8 MP was available.

Android is being push by the OEMs because they can do whatever they want with it. Installing hard to remove bloatwares and spywares. They want to control over OS and Microsoft is not going to let them mess up the consistent Windows 10 UI and performance. Android wins with sheer amount of quantity but not quality.

lets go, 30 Jun 2015I know that all the specs for the 940 are not out yets but ... moreIt's just like the comparison between iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. Not so much of an improvement. Specs don't matter so much for 930/940. The thing is that the 940 (or 930S - w/e the appropriate name for it) will work with future Windows updates for at least 2 years from now. The only thing that would've been a nice upgrade would've been an even better camera than the one in 930. Basically you get a nice upgrade with this new phone: a bit bigger screen, 77% higher resolution than Lumia 930, 50% more RAM, better CPU, better GPU, 20% bigger battery, and all the other high-end goodies that were present in the 930. Plus who knows what else they add to the 940. And yes, maybe 930S or 935 would've been a better name, but this phone is going to be an awesome phone. Regarding the removable battery and microSD slot - that is just down to personal preference.

I did NOT upgrade to the 830 as it offered just 2MP increase in the camera. (My deak breaker must have microSD and removable battery.
the 940 / 930 comparison show the 940 could equally have been called the 930S

I'm leaning toward it having just 1.5 GB RAM than 2 GB. 1.5 GB is more than enough, especially so if they claim Windows 10 is a significant improvement

Nice move by Microsoft, because it needs for marketing purposes. we knew well that wp is working smoothly on lesser specs.

S40 name comes from series 40 which is a basic java system, it is not symbian 40 as i see to many think. Symbian is a c++ operating system while s40 is a crappy java. Stop talking nonsense people, please. And as much as i love Symbian i like wp also. It's good, stable, fast and more secure then the crappy android. Don't want to talk about apple cause i, my self, won't pay more then a dime for their devices...

Cause it's at the first place on the pedestal. It has succes only cause of kids buying like it is a gaming console. People like me have to be dungs to consider an android as their daily driver... More like a small something with absolutly no important data on it, but games, no sim (thir is not needed) and staying home. Used for morning toilet not to consume your smartphone battery.

Install apps as much to full the storage on both devices and stall small apps half and half heavy apps.
Then compare which which phone have good performance in use I've used both, Galaxy gets lagy as hell even the lock screen button wakes it up after few seconds then what else good you expect from a Galaxy even though Lumia 630 is a entry level device.

Specs are over good for Windows Phone but for marketing they need 3-4 Gb of Ram and higher memory but to me it seems more like Lumia 840 XL or 740 XL cux last time we were considering Lumia 1330 came up as Lumia 640 XL.But what goes in favor of Lumia 940 XL is its QHD display
